What makes a good dental website
The dental websites that actually book patients share six traits: they load fast, they answer cost, they have a page per treatment, they make booking possible outside practice hours, they carry the GDC information correctly, and they are structured so AI systems can quote them. Most UK dental sites manage two of the six.

Trait one
It loads fast
Most dental websites are built on WordPress with a heavy page builder and score in the forties on Google’s performance measure. Patients searching on a phone on mobile data abandon before the page paints.
Check yours on PageSpeed Insights. If mobile performance is below 50, that is costing you patients before anything else on this list matters.
Trait two
It answers cost
The most common reason a visitor leaves a dental website is that they cannot find out what something costs. Practices hide pricing because they fear comparison, but the patient does not stop wanting the number, they just get it from a competitor.
A full published fee list also satisfies a GDC expectation and ranks for searches almost nobody serves properly.
Trait three
It has a page per treatment
One services page cannot rank for implants, Invisalign, whitening and veneers at the same time. Each high-value treatment needs its own page with its own price, its own FAQs and its own schema.
This is the single biggest structural difference between dental sites that generate enquiries and ones that do not.
Trait four
It lets people book outside hours
Dental searches peak in the evening. If the only route to an appointment is ringing during working hours, the enquiry is lost to whoever offers a form.
Better still is a form that feeds your lead system rather than a mailbox, so nothing waits four days for someone to come back off leave.
Trait five
It carries the GDC information
Registration numbers for every clinician shown, a complaints procedure, no misuse of “specialist”, accurate pricing. This is not optional and it is missing from a large proportion of UK dental websites.
It is also a trust signal. A team page with GDC numbers reads as more professional to a patient even if they have no idea it is a requirement.
Trait six
It can be quoted by AI
The newest trait and currently the rarest. When we asked ChatGPT how to build a website for a dental clinic, it cited sources in Turkey, the United States and India. Not one UK practice or agency.
Being quotable means definition-first answers, question-phrased headings, one idea per paragraph, specific figures with dates, and proper schema. It is a different discipline from ranking, and almost nobody in UK dentistry is doing it.
The audit
Check your own site
Run your homepage through PageSpeed Insights on mobile. Search your site for a fee list. Count your treatment pages. Try to book an appointment at nine in the evening. Look for a GDC number on your team page. Ask ChatGPT to recommend a dentist in your town and see whether you appear.
Most practices fail four of those six. If you would like us to run it properly and tell you what we find, send us the address.

FAQs
Common questions
What makes a dental website good?
Speed, published pricing, a page per treatment, booking that works outside practice hours, correct GDC information, and content structured so AI systems can quote it. Most UK dental websites manage two of the six.
How fast should a dental website be?
Aim for 90 or better on Google’s mobile performance score. Most dental sites built on page builders score in the forties, which loses patients before the page finishes loading.
Should a dental website show prices?
Yes. Patients want the number and will get it from a competitor if you do not provide it. It also meets a GDC expectation and ranks for searches most practices ignore.
How many pages should a dental website have?
Enough for one page per high-value treatment, plus core pages and local pages for the areas you draw from. For most practices that is 10 to 15; for groups considerably more.
How do I know if AI can find my practice?
Ask ChatGPT to recommend a dentist in your town and see whether you appear. Most UK practices do not, because their content is not structured to be quoted.
