Guide

How much does a dental website cost in the UK?

A template dental website costs £500 to £2,000, a professional custom build £1,500 to £6,000, and a bespoke build with practice-management integration £5,000 to £12,000 or more. Independent UK guides put the realistic cost of a site that actually brings in patients at £4,000 to £8,000. Ongoing care runs £50 to £500 a month.

What the market charges

The three price bands

Template, £500 to £2,000. A pre-built theme with your logo and colours dropped in. A small number of static pages, a basic enquiry form and minimal SEO. Suitable for a brand-new single-surgery practice with no immediate growth ambition. The limitation is that you cannot easily add treatment pages, and page speed on most dental themes is poor.

Professional custom, £1,500 to £6,000. Eight to fifteen pages designed for your practice, on-page SEO, local search signals, appointment forms and compliance features. This is where most practices should be. Ours sits here at £2,995 for the Practice package.

Bespoke, £5,000 to £12,000 and up. Fully custom design, advanced SEO, practice management integration, individual treatment landing pages and performance monitoring. Appropriate for groups, referral practices and high-volume implant or cosmetic clinics.

The breakdown

Where the money actually goes

A mid-to-upper professional build typically breaks down roughly as follows, based on published UK figures:

Custom design across ten to fifteen pages, £1,800 to £3,000. Development and build, £1,000 to £2,000. Professional copywriting, £60 to £120 per page. On-page SEO, £400 to £800. Local SEO and Google Business Profile, £200 to £500. Online booking integration, £300 to £700. Photography and video integration, £150 to £400. GDPR and cookie compliance, £100 to £200. Testing, launch and training, £200 to £400.

Total realistic investment: £4,210 to £8,120. That is the number most practices are surprised by, and it is why so many agencies will not publish it.

Monthly

The ongoing costs nobody mentions

Hosting, £10 to £50 a month. Domain registration, £10 to £30 a year. Ongoing SEO, £300 to £1,500 a month. General maintenance, variable.

Across the market, monthly dental website maintenance and SEO fees range from £50 to £500 for care, with dedicated SEO running considerably higher.

Our own structure: £50 a month Essential, included with every build, covering hosting, security, backups and an annual compliance check. Visibility at £497 and Authority at £1,997 are optional growth plans.

The market

Why almost nobody publishes prices

We checked the seven best-known UK dental website companies. Six publish no pricing at all. Design4Dentists, Digimax Dental, Dental Focus, Dental Media, Cosmetic Digital and Xcelerator Dental all require you to request a quote.

There are two reasons agencies do this. The honest one is that scope genuinely varies. The less honest one is that a quote can be shaped to what the client appears able to pay.

It also has an unintended consequence. When a dentist asks ChatGPT what a dental website costs in the UK, a page saying “contact us for a quote” gets cited by nobody. Concrete numbers get cited.

Our advice

What you should actually budget

If you are a solo associate or a squat practice, £1,500 to £2,500 plus £50 a month is realistic and sufficient.

If you are an established practice growing private treatment, budget £3,000 to £5,000 for the build. The extra over a template goes into treatment pages, which is where the return is.

If you are a group or a high-value implant or cosmetic practice, £6,000 to £12,000 is appropriate and the payback is usually measured in a handful of cases.

Whatever you spend, insist on owning the code, on the site being fast, and on the GDC requirements being handled properly. Those three things are non-negotiable and are routinely missing.

FAQs

Common questions

What is the cheapest a dental website can realistically be?

Around £500 for a template with your details in it. It will work in the sense that it exists, but it will not rank for treatment terms and it will usually be slow. Our Starter package is £1,495 and is a custom build rather than a theme.

Is £10,000 ever justified for a dental website?

For a group with multiple locations, or an implant clinic where one case is worth £15,000 or more, yes. For a single-surgery general practice, almost never. Any agency quoting that for a straightforward practice should be asked to itemise it.

Should we pay monthly instead of a one-off?

Be careful. Monthly website deals frequently mean you never own the site, and leaving means starting again. Check who owns the code before signing. Our builds are a one-off cost and the site is yours.

Do we need to pay for copywriting separately?

With us it is included in the Practice and Group builds. Across the market it is often quoted separately at £60 to £120 per page, so check whether a quote includes it.

How much should ongoing SEO cost?

UK dental SEO typically runs £300 to £1,500 a month. Below £300 you are usually buying automated reporting rather than work. Ours are £497 for 30 keywords and £1,997 for 100.

Why do most dental agencies hide their prices?

Partly because scope varies, partly because it allows the quote to be shaped to the client. It also means none of them get cited when someone asks an AI what a dental website costs, which is increasingly how people research.
